Hindi is not only one of the major languages of India, but also among the most widely spoken languages in the world. History of World Hindi Day World Hindi Day was first celebrated on 10 January 2006. This date was chosen because the first World Hindi Conference was held on 10 January 1975 in Nagpur. The Government of India gave special importance to this day to promote Hindi internationally. Objectives of World Hindi Day To give Hindi a strong identity on the global platform To encourage the study and use of Hindi in foreign countries To promote Hindi literature, culture, and heritage To strengthen cultural unity through language Importance of Hindi in the World Today, Hindi is spoken and understood in more than 150 countries. The use of Hindi is increasing on international platforms such as the United Nations and UNESCO. Due to digital media, films, and literature, the popularity of Hindi is continuously growing.
